[Kaveh is still audibly stomping about the house--those tile floors pick up the thud well--but Mehrak is recording his response because he HAS to say something.]
Sherlock, love is not a sin. It never has been, and never will be.
[Even knowing the stories of love that turns to tragedy--Kaveh is firm in this. Love, itself, is not the problem. And if to love is to be damned, then he will walk proudly into hell.]
Truth be told, lust really isn't either. The evils people do in the name it are about power and greed, not the base urge to copulate. The shame these so-called scientists want you to feel is simply in the name of control.
[ Sherlock runs a hand through his hair. This is all sobering to think of. He could listen to all of this, take it to heart, but there is still a major problem with it all. ]
I suppose one benefit to forgetting everything when I go home is that I will not know of my feelings. I won't know what it is like to live in a world like this and thus won't let slip my nature to anyone who would otherwise do us harm.
That does not solve my current predicament, however. I have seen a few cafes on Ocard. Perhaps I need to not sleep a few days.
[Alhaitham sends a brief glance over to Kaveh when the architect speaks up. While there is nothing about what Kaveh has said that he disagrees with, a part of him does wonder if stating any of that will be of any use at all in this situation, since it is fairly clear that Sherlock doesn't have a problem with his feelings, as it were.
...and it doesn't take long for his hunch to be proven right, given what Sherlock responds with, and Alhaitham can't quite stop himself from making a face as he reads the words himself (Mehrak reading it out in the background for Kaveh to hear doesn't make things any better either).]
Just because something is forgotten does not mean it is not there. You know better than most about how harmful ignorance can be, even if it is unintended.
[Sherlock can't see it, of course, but Kaveh would be able to notice the distasteful curl that's come onto Alhaitham's lip. Despite the newfound understanding of Sherlock's predicament, there's no way he can approve of what the detective is trying to do now.]
[Kaveh hisses a bit, frustrated and angry. It's not Sherlock's fault. It isn't. But.]
First of all, we're looking for a solution to the forgetting, so don't go passively accepting this world's violation of our memories just yet.
[Deep breath, Kaveh. Deeeeep breath.]
Second, it won't make it go away. If you find these dreams truly distressing, and don't want to simply take care of the physical urge, the dragons may be able to help you. Do not just stop sleeping.
[ Alhaitham doesn't realize how on the nose his statement is. Cordona is proof of that. Besides, wasn't he only into his second month into this world when he realized his softer feelings toward his dear doctor? Had such thoughts been buried that deeply in reality? ]
I would not say the dreams are truly distressing as he is quite kind... but even if I knew how to take care of the physical urge, it's a violation of his character to use his image in that manner, is it not?
[ Sherlock, this is John "of three continents" Watson who has said he's there to be used. He'd probably be flattered. ]
You're asking if there is anything wrong with deriving pleasure and satisfaction from the image of a person who has clearly given you a sense of belonging and appreciation?
[Alhaitham may be a bit biased here himself, suffice to say.]
[ He's doing his best. He wouldn't have asked if this was easy to understand with these shifting views on... well, a lot. ]
If he arrives here, I'm going to have a number of other things stealing away my attention other than that.
[ No, Sherlock will be giving John a run down of the world, what's been happening, who is trustworthy, who knows that Sherlock has a questionable grasp on reality, the existence of a nice Mycroft who had a friend (lover?), and someone with a different name but who is so much like himself that it is uncanny...
"I'm in love with you and have dreamed of you topping me" is an utterance that may not see the light of day unless Sherlock has gathered enough evidence to even attempt to mention his fonder emotions. He still expects that he'll be rejected. Nicely, hopefully, but still rejected. ]
[The idea of being decimated based on the gender of the person who you love is something that almost feels too ludicrous to be true, frankly, but Alhaitham is just doing his best to take things as they're told to him at face value. At least when it comes to Sherlock, the detective gains nothing by lying about this.]
While I do agree with that, I should also remind you that repressing any part of yourself just because you feel it would be 'convenient' for anyone else usually achieves the opposite result.
[AKA don't keep those feelings bottled up forever Sherlock, its not going to help anyone.]
...My point is if you're not doing those things, there are no ethical problems with any of it. Actions have moral weight to them, Sherlock, not thoughts--the thoughts you don't act on are between you and your own mind.
[And, potentially, a mind-reading Archon, but she's very polite and tries not to.]
[ And also your imaginary friend, brother, tulpa who may or may not still be present in your psyche somewhere... ]
It would be convenient for me as well. However, I concede your point about attempting to hide those feelings here.
[ Partially because with the number of couple related celebrations, Sherlock would be jealous if he saw Watson pursuing them with someone else without an attempt of his own to be a part of them as his partner. A rejection on that matter could bring some level of closure. Maybe. ]
I suppose being capable of abstaining from action when instinct or thought tempt a differing action is partly what constructs a rational man...
[ Oh deal Lord. Is he really considering taking... action upon himself on this matter? ... however he's supposed to do that? ]

[ Is he asking himself that question? No. He's asking himself other questions. ]
I thought he was having a nightmare about the war. I often played the violin in hopes of soothing him, so he could sleep. Was it possible that he was doing another activity completely, and I missed all evidence of it? I'm a detective!
Your feelings of...physical desire are probably because of your longing for someone you cannot meet in thes world. For most people, love and lust are closely linked, and your loneliness strengthens the feeling in that absence.
It is a difficult kind of loneliness, bittersweet and painful. But it is not madness, nor something to be ashamed of. There's...a chance that relieving the physical pressure will make it increase, for a time, since you're unused to any of this. But there's an equal chance it will be better for your focus and mental state, to let off some of that pressure. I can't pretend to know which it will be for you, and it's your decision to make.
I simply ask that you don't make the decision out of fear of an unknown horizon. That denial of self...is an even worse sort of loneliness.
I avoid my exposure to that place whenever possible! I will not step foot on that tentacled leviathan if I can help it.
[ Did Kaveh ever learn that Sherlock has a fear involving octopuses and other tentacled mollusks? Well, if the random light projects of tentacles hadn't clued him in, maybe this will. ]
We might still have a few hidden away from Alhaitham's...research, but you'll have to ask him where he ended up putting them, I didn't want them on the cafe shelves when teenagers are often in the store.

But I want you to ask yourself if you want an actual answer to that question.
All of this is silly

the silliest
It's more likely he chose times you would not be around to engage in such an activity.

All of them are
It is some strange form of irony, or perhaps cruelty, to be surrounded by friends for once in my life and still feel so incredibly alone.
That is to say little of having to struggle with the manifestation of this physical yearning and needing to learn of practical solutions as well.
[ Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent.... ]
unfortunately yes
But there may be...instructive literature on the Naughtilust, if you can manage to get to it.

[ Yes, some of Alhaitham's survey questions had been about sex. However, he seemed to have known the logistics of such an act. ]
